Minimum Requirements for the Federal Skilled Worker Program
- You should have at least one year of paid work experience within the last 10 years at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B as defined in the National Occupational Classification (NOC)
- You must demonstrate your language proficiency by submitting test results of an approved English or a French language test
- If you completed your education outside Canada, you will need to obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an agency approved by CIC
Six Selection Factors
If you meet all the conditions above, IRCC, previously CIC, will assess your application based on the selection factors in the federal skilled worker points grid.
The selection factors are:
- your skills in English and/or French
- your education,
- your work experience,
- your age,
- whether you have a valid job offer, and
- your adaptability

You will also be asked to prove that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada unless you have a valid job offer in Canada
You must be admissible to Canada and you must plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
